Experience

I am a Primary (K-2) Intervention Specialist for students with ADHD, Learning disabilities including dyslexia, and intellectual disabilities. I am trained with over 100 hours of tutoring with Orton Gillingham approach to reading instruction for struggling readers and spellers at Children's Dyslexia Center. Children with this intensive instruction develop an understanding of foundational skills which help them to "break the code" when coming across a word they do not know how to read or spell. Students are assessed during the first session to determine their areas of weakness and the data from the assessment drives the instruction. Each lesson teaches a new concept and incorporates concepts the child struggled with in previous lessons, providing the additional review the child needs in order to master the concept. The final tutoring session with assess students again so you can see what progress they've made :) I am so excited to share this approach with other struggling readers. If you have a reader that "needs improvement" or a speller that has "unsatisfactory performance," this approach will help them reach their full potential as readers!

Hobbies

I teach primary special education and love helping my struggling readers! My husband and I just bought a home and we are saving up to grow our family :) I am very family oriented. My husband and I spend our weekends seeing our nieces and nephews at soccer games, volleyball tournaments, and recitals. We have family dinners every Sunday evening and love enjoying local events, businesses, and restaurants.
