Experience
I am a retired licensed Intervention Specialist and bring a wealth of experience in teaching students identified as having a disability, including cognitive, learning, ADHD, dyslexia and emotional. However, if your son/daughter does not have a disability yet needs help in academics, the same techniques are successful. I take pride in differentiating instruction according to the student's needs. The key is to break the information into steps whereby the students can learn and build from there. My favorite subjects are reading and math. I use a phonemic awareness program that is very successful and includes decoding, spelling, and comprehension. I build rapport easily with my students and feel this is critical to the learning process. My most recent experience was teaching high risk middle school students from urban areas and this was one of my favorite assignments. I have also worked collaboratively with schools to support the student during the school day. Please do not rely on "My Subjects" on this site, as they are not correct. I tutor K-7. I have taken many hours of university credit in education beyond my Master's degree in Education. I do have flexibility in fees charged.
